Spelling Bee solver

Enter any seven letters and the center letter. Start with hints by length and two-letter start, then reveal pangrams or every answer with its points. For today's official answers, see today's Spelling Bee hints.

Type the yellow middle letter first, then the six letters around it in any order. You can also paste all seven.

How to use this NYT Spelling Bee helper

  1. 1. Enter the hive. Put the yellow center letter in the first box and the six outer letters in the second, in any order.
  2. 2. Work from hints. The solver opens on counts only: how many words of each length, a first-letter grid, and two-letter starts such as WA-3.
  3. 3. Reveal in steps. Show just the pangrams first, then the full list grouped by length when you want every answer.

How Spelling Bee scoring works

A valid word has at least four letters, includes the center letter, and uses only the seven hive letters (repeats allowed). A four-letter word scores 1 point. Any longer word scores 1 point per letter. A pangram, which uses all seven letters, earns a 7-point bonus on top. Here is the hive A (center), W, R, M, I, N, G:

WordWhyPoints
WARM4 letters1
GRAIN5 letters5
MARRING7 letters, no W7
WARMING7 letters, uses all seven (pangram)7 + 7 = 14

Rules and scoring as described in the How to Play panel of The New York Times Spelling Bee, checked November 5, 2026. Point totals on this page use our own word list, so treat them as an estimate of the puzzle's maximum, not the official total.

Where the word list comes from

The solver uses about 47,000 words drawn from SCOWL (Spell Checker Oriented Word Lists), the open word lists behind many spell checkers, at the size used by standard American English dictionaries. We keep only lowercase words of four or more letters, which removes names and abbreviations, and we strip slurs and vulgar terms. The list loads only when you first solve, so the page itself stays light. See the word list license.

Spelling Bee FAQ

Is this the official NYT Spelling Bee answer list?

No. NudgeHint is an independent fan site and is not affiliated with The New York Times. The official puzzle uses a hand-edited word list that leaves out many obscure words, so this solver usually finds more words than the game will accept. If a word is rejected in the game, skip it and move on.

Why does the solver show words the game rejects?

Our dictionary is a general American English spell-check list, not the puzzle editor's list. It includes some rare, technical, or regional words that the official game skips. The point total shown here is therefore an upper bound, not the official Genius or Queen Bee target.

Can a word repeat letters?

Yes. Any letter in the hive can be used as many times as you like, so MAMA is fine when M and A are in the puzzle. Every word still has to include the center letter and be at least four letters long.

What is a perfect pangram?

A pangram uses all seven letters at least once. A perfect pangram is a seven-letter pangram that uses each letter exactly once, like WARMING for the hive A, W, R, M, I, N, G. Both earn the same 7-point bonus.

Does the solver send my letters anywhere?

No. The word list downloads to your browser the first time you solve, and all matching and scoring happens on your device.
